In this public talk, Harvard Graduate Student [**Julia Alekseyeva**](http://complit.fas.harvard.edu/people/julia-alekseyeva) will discuss her recent graphic memoir, “[Soviet Daughter](https://microcosmpublishing.com/catalog/books/6320),” the story of her rebellious, independent great-grandmother coming of age in the USSR, and the impact of this story on Alekseyeva’s own life several decades later. In conversation with Alekseyeva, comics scholar [**Hillary Chute**](https://www.northeastern.edu/cssh/faculty/hillary-chute), author of *Disaster Drawn: Visual Witness, Comics, and Documentary Form* and *Graphic Women: Life Narrative and Contemporary Comics*, will discuss comics as a unique medium for telling and studying historical memoir.
