King Tutankhamen, Oetsi ‘the Iceman’ from the Alps, Iranian salt mummies, mummies from Peru – Prof. Dr. med Frank Ruehli has examined and written about them all.  Prof. Ruehli is the Director of the University of Zurich’s Institute of Evolutionary Medicine, a world-renowned research institute that focuses on the interdisciplinary study of the health and disease of the past, the pathologies of the present, and the medical treatments of the future.  A presentation about how the study of disease in the past directly affects how we define the nature of disease today, Prof. Ruehli’s lecture will be of utility for anthropologists (biological, physical, medical, and social), biologists, historians, archaeologists, and medical professionals alike and will offer a rigorous and thought-provoking approach to the study of health and disease.
