This talk aims to unpack dominant narratives about China’s environment, see how they spatialize China, and examine their assumptions and political implications. This talk argues that the environment increasingly serves as a new platform to ‘re-orientalize’ China, or construct China as an environmental ‘other,’ by those outside the country.
