HLS: The History of Harvard Law School followed by a Dedication to the Enslaved who Helped Build Harvard Law School

we begin the formal observance of our Bicentennial by remembering and honoring the enslaved whose labor created wealth that made possible the founding of Harvard Law School. Please join President Drew Faust, Professor Annette Gordon-Reed, Professor Janet Halley, and me at the Law School’s Crossroads at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday for the dedication of a memorial in their honor. The dedication immediately follows a talk and panel discussion open to all members of the Harvard Law School community on The History of Harvard Law School (Milstein West, 5 p.m.).

Dan Coquillette will discuss the founding of Harvard Law School and the early years, leading up to the Civil War, followed by commentary and discussion with a panel of HLS faculty and closing remarks by Dean John F. Manning.
