HLS: Law and History Program Fall Reception

This Fall's Law and History Program Reception will focus on the history of the American criminal justice system. The reception is open to students and faculty from across the university who are interested in the study of legal history, broadly construed. Three scholars will briefly present their research and talk about the practice of legal history. All are welcome and a non-pizza lunch will be provided.

Presenting at the reception will be: 

Heather Ann Thompson, professor of History at the University of Michigan and author of the Pulitzer Prize winning Blood in the Water: The Attica Prison Uprising of 1971 and Its Legacy. 

Khalil Gibran Muhammad, professor at the Kennedy School of Government, former director of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library and author of The Condemnation of Blackness: Race, Crime, and the Making of Modern Urban America. 

Anna Lvovsky, professor at Harvard Law School and author of the forthcoming Queer Expertise: Urban Policing and theDiscovery of the Gay World, 1920-1970.
