Professor Higginbotham will host a student-faculty lunch on March 28 at Grafton Street Pub & Grill.

Professor Higginbotham is the Victor S. Thomas Professor of History and of African and African American Studies and currently serves as the National President of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. A pioneering scholar in African American women’s history, she is the author of the prizewinning book Righteous Discontent: The Women’s Movement in the Black Baptist Church 1880-1920. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2014 National Humanities Medal from President Barack Obama at the White House for “illuminating the African American journey." She was the Inaugural John Hope Franklin Visiting Professor at the Duke Law School in academic year 2010-2011 and more recently wrote the Foreword to the autobiography of retired federal court (Sixth Circuit) judge Nathaniel Jones. His autobiography is titled Answering the Call:  An Autobiography of the Modern Struggle to End Racial Discrimination in America (2017).
