Monday Matinees, "The Politics of the Unseen: Exploring the Moral Imagination," presents The Two Popes, a biographical drama, directed by Fernando Meirelles, starring Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins. Behind Vatican walls, the conservative Pope Benedict and the liberal future Pope Francis must find common ground to forge a new path for the Catholic Church.
Following the film, Stephanie Paulsell, Interim Pusey Minister of the Memorial Church at Harvard, will converse with producer Jonathan Eirich. Dialogue with the audience will be encouraged.
This is the second of a special film series that focuses on issues of social and racial justice; ethics of data collection and its impact on free elections; moral leadership; gun violence; and dreams of farming and caring for the land. Discussions will center around what role the moral imagination plays in addressing societal concerns, how each film contributes to our understanding of social change, and how we as community might engage more fully in movement building rooted in creativity and compassion.
