Interested in hitting the campaign trail yourself? <strong>Join the Harvard GSAS Science Policy Group and 314 Action for a riveting conversation with two scientists who have been on the ballot -- Shaughnessy Naughton and Dr. Monica Linden</strong>.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p>	<span style="color:rgba(0,0,0,0.870588)"><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"><strong>Shaughnessy Naughton</strong><span><span><span style="color:black"> is a chemist and entrepreneur. After graduating from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in chemistry, Shaughnessy spent four years developing drugs at Wyeth Laboratories before taking over her family's publishing business. In 2014 Shaughnessy<strong> ran for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 8th District</strong>. Though she didn't win, Shaughnessy drew on her experience and connections to start 314 Action, which helps scientists and STEM professionals navigate the process of running for office.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p>	<span style="color:rgba(0,0,0,0.870588)"><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"><strong>Dr. Monica Linden</strong><span><span><span style="color:black"> is a Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience at Brown University and a <strong>newly elected member of the School Committee in Franklin, MA</strong>. After obtaining her PhD in neuroscience from MIT, Monica taught college-level science using innovative techniques and technologies to instruct and assess her students and herself. Monica will bring her decade and a half of experience as a teacher and her data-driven mindset as a scientist to her new role as a school board member.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p>	<span style="color:rgba(0,0,0,0.870588)"><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"><span><span><span style="color:black">Shaughnessy and Monica will share their thoughts on how scientists can contribute to society by seeking public office, from local school boards and state legislatures to Congress and beyond!
