SUMMARY:History Department Seminar: “Giving Our Own Times a History” (The Public Face of History series)
DESCRIPTION:
The “Public Face of History” is a year-long series sponsored by the Harvard History Department that aims to stimulate conversation among faculty, students, and the larger community over the challenges historians face in sharing their work with the public. In doing so, the department hopes to highlight the different ways that scholars have deepened historical understanding to a broad audience. Our first talk, “Giving Our Own Times a History,” will center around University of Washington Professor Margaret O’Mara’s recent book, The Code: Silicon Valley and the Remaking of America. She will be in conversation with Harvard History Professor Lizabeth Cohen. We hope you will join us to explore Professor O’Mara’s experience researching, writing, and speaking about how Silicon Valley has emerged as a center of economic, social, and political power.

	Open to the public!
(See event flyer here)
