DESCRIPTION:<p><span>The </span><strong>Harvard Wind Ensemble</strong><span> presents "The Sounds of Liberty," a concert celebrating the 250</span><sup>th</sup><span> Anniversary of the US on April 17</span><sup>th</sup><span> at 8pm in Lowell Lecture Hall. The Harvard Wind Ensemble will be joined by the </span><strong>Middlesex Concert Band</strong><span> presenting music that honors the spirit of American liberty including </span><em>Chester Overture</em><span> by William Schuman, Charles Ives' </span><em>Variations on America</em><span>, Carmen Dragon’s arrangement of </span><em>America the Beautiful</em><span> and </span><em>Stars and Stripes Forever</em><span> by John Philip Sousa. The Harvard Wind Ensemble will also premiere a new work, </span><em>Revolutionary Triptych</em><span> by Leanna Primiani. The work is a suite for concert band that tells the stories of three teenage patriots whose acts of bravery helped shape the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington – who rode twice the distance of Paul Revere, Susanna Bolling – who smuggled intelligence to General Washington, and Betty Zane – who ran through enemy fire to resupply a fort under siege.&nbsp;</span><br><br><span>The Harvard Wind Ensemble is part of a commission consortium of ensembles who are supporting this new work.</span><br><br><span>The Harvard University Wind Ensemble is an organization of up to fifty talented musicians.
