Gerald Vizenor is a prolific novelist, poet, literary critic, and citizen of the White Earth Nation of the Anishinaabeg in Minnesota. He is the author and editor of more than 30 books, including Blue Ravens (2014), Favor of Crows: New and Collected Haiku (2014), and Shrouds of White Earth (2010).

Introduction by Daniel Carpenter, the director of the social sciences program of Academic Ventures at the Radcliffe Institute, the Allie S. Freed Professor of Government in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and the director of the Center for American Political Studies.
