Professor Cott is the Jonathan Trumbull Professor of American History at Harvard. Her scholarship includes <em>Public Vows</em>, which explores the history of marriage as a public institution in the U.S. She subsequently participated in writing several historians' amici briefs on same-sex marriage and on abortion restrictions.</p><p> </p>
