Cameron Hollenbeck entered Harvard’s history PhD program in Fall 2024. He specializes in modern Japanese history with a focus on the Japanese Empire. His research centers multi-ethnic communities and ideologies of race and antisemitism in Japanese-occupied Manchuria, with particular emphasis on relations between Japanese, Jewish, and Russian diaspora communities.

Cameron graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015 with a BA in history. He lived and taught in Japan for four years before returning to the US to earn his MA from Tufts University in 2023.
