Danilo is a master's student in the Graduate Program in History at the Federal University of Bahia (PPGH-UFBA), Brazil. His research focuses on the strategies of insubordination adopted by a group of prisoners of war during the Paraguayan War (1864-1870). He is interested in the social history of war and slavery in the 19th century, the participation of black soldiers in these conflicts, the experiences of prisoners of war, and the formation of nation-states in Latin America. He is also a member of the research group "Slavery and the Invention of Freedom" at UFBA.
