I'm Frances, a class of 2021 Currierite concentrating in history (obviously!), but also with a joint concentration in History of Art and Architecture, a secondary in Comparative Literature, and a language citation in Modern Chinese. In my life as a historian, I'm interested in the British Empire in Asia, specifically in Hong Kong, and I'm especially curious about how the British created and regulated boundaries of race and space in daily life. In my other life as an HAA concentrator, I'm interested in the 19th century Western conceptions and collections of art and culture from Asia, from orientalist paintings to World's Fairs. Outside of my academics, I'm a PAF, and I teach fifth graders in Boston about history and civics through PBHA and the IOP. Ask me about joint concentrations, and where to find good Asian food in Boston.
