Jonathan Zait entered the program in the fall of 2024. As a student of Modern European Intellectual History, his research examines the intersection of philosophy and statecraft in the context of Zionism and Pan-Europeanism during the interwar period. More broadly, he is interested in how personal experiences contribute to the formation, evolution, and distribution of political ideas, with a particular focus on the participation of philosophers in national and supranational discourses and state-building endeavors. In his [previous work](https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2024-29840-001), Jonathan researched the impact of the Holocaust on the history of psychoanalysis. Before coming to Harvard, he studied at Tel Aviv University, where he obtained degrees in History and Philosophy.
