Joo Hyeon Oh (HEAL)

Joo-hyeon Oh received her B.A. in History at the University of California, Berkeley in 2014 and studied at Shaanxi Normal University for two years. She wrote her senior thesis on the topic of nonverbal communications made through hair ornaments and clothing of female characters in Jin Ping Mei. At Harvard, she hopes to continue focusing on studying Ming-Qing material culture, especially as represented in literature. She also plans on expanding her research interest beyond China and study Sino-Korean cultural interactions by looking into the movements of things and discourses on objects across the Sino-Korean border. Her other interests include the history of everyday life and tales of the strange.
