Joseph la Hausse de Lalouvière
Joseph la Hausse de Lalouvière is a doctoral candidate in the History Department where he works on the comparative history of slavery. His past research focused on enslavement, the slave trade and French colonialism in the Western Indian ocean in the 18th century. His Ph.D. dissertation, based on extensive archival work, is about re-enslavement in the French Caribbean and Guiana in the wake of the Haitian Revolution. He holds a double-first-class bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Cambridge.
