The Harvard University History Department invites applications for two tenured professorial appointments in the field of Latin American history, broadly defined. The appointments are expected to begin in the fall 2009, and the successful candidates will be affiliated with Harvard University’s David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. Applicants are expected to have a distinguished scholarly and teaching record and to be prepared to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Benjamin Trombly (PhD ‘07) received the Robert C. Trucker/Stephen F. Cohen Dissertation prize for outstanding doctoral dissertation in historical political science and political history of the Soviet Union from the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, sponsored by the JKW Foundation. His dissertation is titled “Re-Imagining the Soviet Intelligentsia: Student Politics and University Life, 1948-1964.”
Carlo Ginzburg, the Lauro de Bosis Visiting Lecturer will be speaking on “Debating About Agency.” The talk will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 4:15p.m. in the Lower Library in Robinson Hall, 35 Quincy St., Cambridge, MA.
