This lecture attempts to examine some of the key contemporary challenges confronting the EU, namely: the new EU agenda, the challenges of the new Commission and Parliament, the future shape of EU enlargement, the new EU economic governance and the distance between the EU institutions and citizens after the austerity/troika period or the foreign policy dilemma.
