Ohannes Kılıçdağı, after his double major degree of sociology and political science at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, received his PhD from the history department of the same university. He has taught courses on social and cultural history of Turkey from empire through republican period at Istanbul Bilgi University. He joined the research fellows of the Near Eastern Studies at the University of Michigan in 2012-2013. He researches and writes on the non-Muslims in the Ottoman Empire, Ottomanism as a citizenship debate with a special focus on the Armenian community in the Second Constitutional Period. He is interested in inter-communal relations among different ethno-religious groups, how these relations constitute the social base of ethnic cleansings and genocides. His articles appear in several books and journals. He is one of the columnists of Turkish-Armenian newspaper Agos in Istanbul.
