Departmental policy on cyber-harassment:

February 1, 2018
Harvard Shield

In the event of any form of cyber-harrassment received by members of the student community here at the History Department, including but not limited to threatening or discriminatory emails, social media posts or private messages, defamatory websites or comments on websites, or any similar online attacks for any reason and of any nature, we strongly encourage our students to immediately reach out to the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) of the Department, who will field the issue at hand and work with the student or students targeted to identify and engage with resources at Harvard to provide immediate support; draft letters/statements of explanation; coordinate pleas to those resources to take action on the student’s behalf; advocate for the student with other Harvard offices and personnel (including the Title IX office and HUPD, if necessary); and participate in thinking through other possible responses with appropriate discretion for safety and confidentiality.

Our current DGS through June 30th, 2018 is Professor Alison Frank Johnson, and she may be reached at afrank@fas.harvard.edu.
