Adah-Dextrious Downie-Greenidge

Downie-Greenidge is a PhD student studying economic and environmental history (eco-economics) who entered the program in the Fall of 2025. In 2022, Downie graduated with distinction from Temple University’s Honors Program, earning a Bachelor’s degree in history, and was a recipient of the Professor Edward R. and Essie Baron Memorial Award. In 2025, Downie completed her Master’s in North American Studies, focusing on History and English, while also serving as a research assistant at the University of Cologne. She interned at the Adaptation Division of the UN Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC) in Bonn, Germany, supporting countries in assessing climate risks and planning climate-change responses. Additionally, she has experience in collaborative ethnobotanical research.

Her research focuses on how economic systems and over-consumption drive ecological extraction throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. She is interested in environmental justice, waste, and economic systems on domestic and global scales.
