Alex Jackson studies Soviet history, with a focus on Soviet nationalisms and internationalisms.  He graduated from McGill University with a BA in history, and the Harvard Extension School with an MA in history.  His research interests include discourses of race in the Soviet Union, the application of the concept of national self-determination in the American South, and the Black diaspora in the Caucasus.
