Andy Chen joined the Department of History at Harvard University as a doctoral student in 2022. His research interests include Byzantine military management and culture, military saints, trade and diplomacy, and imperial political theology. Before entering the program, he completed his BA in Linguistics, Classics, and Medieval Studies at UC Santa Barbara and his MA in Medieval Studies at Central European University in Budapest.
