Anna Bisikalo studies Ukrainian and Eastern European history. Anna is interested in the history of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and particularly in its resurgence following the end of the Soviet Union. She researches the legacies of Communist atheism and Ukrainian nationalism in contemporary religious identities. Anna entered the program in the Fall of 2018 after receiving her Bachelor's degree in Government and Russian & East European Studies from Wesleyan University. Her undergraduate thesis centered on local feminist organizing in independent Ukraine. Broadly, Anna's research interests include secular and religious morality; the politics of memory and history; and communal rites and rituals.
