Casey Wade Two Bears

Casey Two Bears is an active-duty Navy Commander and an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. He is a doctoral candidate in the History Department at Harvard University. His scholarly interests include examining the relationship between Native American boarding school experiences with service in the U.S. military. Additionally, he focuses on the impact of militias, volunteers, and tribal police in the conduct of war and security during the Indian Wars. He graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 and earned his Masters of Global Affairs and Policy from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea in 2018.

Casey is a 2016 Olmsted Scholar representing Seoul, South Korea. He was selected by the U.S. Navy to be a Permanent Military Professor where he will teach Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy upon successful completion of the PhD program at Harvard.
