Eric Senkit Suen

Eric Senkit SUEN is a Ph.D. candidate in modern Japanese history at Harvard University since 2024. His research interests include animal, environmental, food, and migration history. He is researching Japan's 20th-century horse improvement projects in East Asia and the indispensable role of horses in Japan's empire-building. He will also study the Japan-centered transnational horse trade and how the Japanese empire transformed local landscapes as it expanded. He holds a B.A. in Japanese and Chinese Studies from the University of Hong Kong and an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Stanford University.
