Giselle Paulson

Hello! My name is Giselle, and I am a junior in Winthrop studying History and Math. After taking two history seminars about extremely different topics (one Japanese imperialism and the other mental illness in Africa), I was shocked by how closely they related and realized history was far more complex than just a series of events. I find that even though contexts can differ dramatically, the ways in which people think and react can actually be quite similar; for that reason every history course I take completely changes my perception of the world, current events, and more. From Mesoamerica to early modern Europe, I’m yet to find a historical subject I didn’t love, but my primary focus is World War II and the resulting refugee crisis in Europe. Apart from history, I love competing with the Harvard College Debating Union and designing costumes for HRDC shows.
