Dan Bertwell

Responsibilities: coordinates all aspects of the History PhD program; primary departmental contact for graduate students.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:45am - 3:45pm
(In-person M, T, F and remote W, TH)

Dan holds a weekly office hour on Wednesdays starting at 11:00am (Eastern) over Zoom. The office hour takes place when classes are in session. Students can always write him to set up another time to meet if the office hour time does not work.

Dan has been at Harvard since 2008, most recently working in the GSAS Admissions and Financial Aid Office before joining the History Department in 2014. He has a BA in history from the University of Rhode Island, a MA in modern U.S. history from the University of South Florida, and a MA in Higher Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He and his wife have a daughter and two sons, and when he has available time (infrequently), he enjoys reading, running, and collecting original comic book art.
