Hagar Zheng Gal
Hagar Zheng Gal is a Ph.D. candidate in Global History. Her research focuses primarily on relations of political economy between the British and Qing Empires in the 19th to early 20th centuries, largely through the opium trade. Topics include Jardine Matheson, the Sassoons, Bombay and Portuguese India, Malwa opium, coastal and southwest China. Interests are in trade, corporations, cultures, ideas, and drugs.
