Ida Beckett
Ida Beckett entered the History PhD program in the fall of 2026. She specializes in early-modern Ottoman and English history and is interested in how subjects in the Old World (broadly construed) understood and reacted to new, ‘foreign’ and imbibed substances, particularly coffee and tobacco. Ida holds a Masters in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Wellesley College, where she also studied English literature.
