Itai Segre
Itai entered the History PhD program at Harvard in the fall of 2024. His scholarly interests include Israel’s foreign reach, particularly in Latin America during The Cold War and its afterlife. Itai seeks to trace economic and class dynamics in the post-WWII global economic system and the international right-wing movements that sought to alter and influence it. Itai has written about the support Israel, with extensive American oversight, offered to Nicaraguan Contras in the 1980s. He investigates the Cold War connections between Israel, the US and other right-wing governments and armed militias in the region and beyond.
Itai received an M.A in history from the University of Chicago (2023) and a B.A, magna cum laude, in history from the University of Washington in Seattle (2022). A non-traditional student, Itai started his academic studies in 2019 in his early 30s.
