Jacqueline Metzger

Hi, nice to meet you! I’m Jacqueline Metzger, a junior in Quincy House (the People’s House), concentrating in History with a secondary in Theater, Dance, and Media. Fun fact: I was born in DC, raised in Rockville, MD, and spent a year in Virginia, so I’ve lived in every part of the DMV!

I’ve loved history since middle school, when a great History teacher helped me realize that being “smart” isn’t just about excelling at STEM, but about finding what truly excites you. For me, that’s people: history means traveling through time, connecting with people’s stories, and noticing patterns you can only see with the coveted perspective of time and distance. Harvard’s History department has deepened that passion through classes with professors such as Jill Lepore, Maya Jasanoff, Kirsten Weld, Lorenzo Bondioli, and Rosie Bsheer, who can transform you from a high school time traveler into a budding historian (take their classes!).

One of my favorite things is meeting new people, so feel free to reach out if you want to chat about your favorite historical period, debate alternate histories (what if Franz Ferdinand’s driver hadn’t made a wrong turn?), or meet Monty, my very spoiled cat. Thanks!

Please have a lovely day,

                       Jacqueline
