Marten Dondorp

Marten Dondorp is a PhD student in Global History, specializing in the history of capitalism in the British and Dutch empires. His current research focuses on the intersections between state-building, logistics, and environments, tracing how colonial projects constructed increasingly securitized forms of conveying commodities over large distances in the early 19th century. The securitization of logistics had profound racialized environmental effects. Prior to starting this project, he worked as a tour guide in Amsterdam, where he also completed a Research Master in Global History.
