Mia Jodorcovsky
Mia Jodorcovsky joined Harvard’s History PhD program in Fall of 2025. She specializes in Latin American history, with a focus on nineteenth-century Argentina.
Her research explores slavery, fugitivity, and the social networks forged by enslaved women who pursued freedom beyond the bounds of the law. Mia is particularly interested in how race, gender, and ethnocultural ties intersected in the formation of urban Afrodescendant and Afro-Indigenous mutual-aid societies across Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic world.
Mia holds a BFA with Great Distinction in Art History and Sociology from Concordia University (Montreal) and a Certificate in Afro-Latin American Studies from the Afro-Latin American Research Institute at the Hutchins Center. Her doctoral research is supported by the Fonds de recherches du Québec. She warmly welcomes inquiries from prospective graduate students.
