Nate studies the military and cultural history of the French Empire after the Second World War. He is particularly interested in the stories of indigenous soldiers who remained loyal to France during the wars of decolonization, and how they shaped the evolution and politicization of the French officer corps during that period. He holds a B.A. from New York University, and Master’s Degrees in International and World History from Columbia University and the London School of Economics.
