Along similar themes, her undergraduate honors thesis explored the interconnected nature of Fijian and ni-Vanuatu independence movements in the larger Cold War context. This project cemented her interest in employing methods of microhistory and diplomatic history.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, Rachelle was a program coordinator at the DKI Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu, HI. She graduated from Stanford University with a BA in International Relations in 2023.
