Teagan Cameron

Teagan Cameron is a PhD candidate in the joint program in History and Middle Eastern Studies.  Her research interests focus on the Ottoman janissary corps and its identity in the early modern Ottoman Empire.  More broadly, she is interested in urban life, literary cultures, and social relationships in the early modern period.

Prior to arriving at Harvard, Teagan received her BA (Hons) in History from the University of Alberta, where she was awarded the S.W. Field Prize in History for her undergraduate thesis.  She received her MA in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations from the University of Toronto, where her thesis research also focussed on the janissary corps.  Outside of her studies, Teagan is an avid reader, a regular concert-goer, and a passionate fan of professional road cycling.
