Alum Ben Siegel wins Sardar Patel Award

The History Department would like to congratulate Ben Siegel, whose dissertation “Independent India of Plenty: Food, Hunger, and Nation-Building in Modern India” won the 2014 Sardar Patel Award for “the best doctoral dissertation on any aspect of modern India – social sciences, humanities, education and fine arts."

"It's very much the product of six years in and around Robinson...under the supervision of Sugata Bose, Emma Rothschild, and Sunil Amrith" says Siegel.

Established in 1999, the Sardar Patel award is annually conferred by the Center for India and South Asia at UCLA. Ben is currently an Assistant Professor of History at Boston University.
