Ailish Lalor
Ailish Lalor entered the PhD program in 2023. She studies the environmental history of the Netherlands and its (former) colonies in the twentieth century, focusing on industrial agriculture, whaling and fishing, land reclamation, and animals. In 2024, she co-founded the Non-Academic Writing Workshop (NAWW), a workshop dedicated to the craft of writing history. She also co-runs the Global Environments Workshop, and the European Environmental History Seminar series at the Center for European Studies.
Her essays have been published in the European Review of Books and The Preserve Journal. She is also writing a historical fiction novel called Limestone. Ailish grew up in Ireland and Australia, and completed her BA and MA at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
