Born and raised in Nanjing, China, Bohao Wu began the Ph.D program in history in the fall of 2017 after graduating magna cum laude from Brown University, where his honors thesis on Japanese technocrats in wartime Manchuria won the Christian Yegen Thesis Prize. In addition to Chinese, Bohao also speaks Japanese and Russian. In leisure time, Bohao is a devout kendo enthusiast. 

His research interests include transnational interactions, leftist movements, and intellectual movements in East Asia, especially during the early Cold War-era. Bohao is working with Andrew Gordon.
